- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp kosher salt

- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix the dough
Preheat oven to 375°F. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Beat butter and both sugars until light and fluffy, 3–4 minutes. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.

Bake
Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underdone. Sprinkle with flaky salt if desired.

Cool and serve
Cool on the baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack. For chewier cookies, chill the dough 30 minutes before baking.
