Ingredients
Step 1 — Brown the turkey
- 1½ lbs lean ground turkey (93%)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion (diced)
- 1 red bell pepper (diced)
- 3 garlic cloves (minced)
Step 2 — Simmer the chili
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes (no salt added)
- 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans (rinsed and drained)
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans (rinsed and drained)
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Optional: pinch of cayenne
Step 3 — Serve
- Chopped cilantro
- Lime wedges
- Shredded cheddar (optional)
- Greek yogurt (optional)

Brown the turkey and vegetables
Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Cook turkey until browned, breaking it up. Add onion and bell pepper; cook 5 minutes. Stir in garlic for 1 minute.

Simmer the chili
Add tomatoes, beans, broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 25–30 minutes until thick. Taste and adjust heat with cayenne if desired.

Serve
Ladle into bowls and top with cilantro and lime. Add cheese or yogurt at the table so each person controls sodium.
